Once contracts had exchanged and the couple had decided what would return with them, the next challenge was moving fourteen years of possessions from southern Spain back to Surrey.
Years of life had accumulated in the villa. There was furniture, artwork, books, kitchen equipment, garden items, personal documents, photographs and the familiar possessions that had made the Spanish property feel like home for so long.

Although the journey covered more than 1,500 miles, the couple later said that the logistics were less stressful than they had expected because the move had been broken down into clear stages.
David admitted afterwards that the physical move had worried him almost as much as the decision to leave Spain.
“Leaving Spain was emotional,” he said, “but I think we underestimated just how much we had collected over fourteen years.”
